In You I am Free

In You I am Free

A Poem by ADB

I hate the conformity I must mold to

The unstrange people I must please

This life is a prison in which I’m required to trace

Live by their norms and live at their pace

It’s unsettling to me that never will I really be free

This is supposed to be my life but my stance will never be recognized

That my desires can never even be made

I have to wear this face to keep them unafraid

This false image I watch the ground in sorrow behind

That conventional I must be

For you to succeed

For us to be accepted

And we to be free
