American Tragedy

American Tragedy

A Poem by Arrianna
"

The nation's in a bit of a turmoil as of right now...

"
It's been raining for days
From coast to coast there's nothing but
East and west are drowning in tears
It seems like we're all caught in a rut

A mental storm on the shore of psyche
Stuck under a cloud of misery
People scream from the darkest corners
The clergy begs Him for mercy

Spirits have dropped like flies
Maggots in the graveyard
Where will our land go next?
We predict it won't be far

They race to achieve power
Taking men's and women's vote
Stepping on each other all the while
The stairs to royalty are a slippery slope

It hurts to live like a tortured soul,
To see people fight each other
Can any normal soul help us realize
We must concede with one another?

Author's Note

Arrianna
I think it was raining when I wrote this, and I wasn't in a good mood. We'd been talking about the presidential candidates and election in class.
