Anti-Development

Anti-Development

A Poem by Augusto Miguel Gamboa

Where image means more than the performance you give
Where paper defines whether you die or you live
No amount of good can save you from judgment
And every drop of sweat only leads to resentment

Living against the spiritual element, stripped from holy equipment
An earth-sent transcendent blinded by success and fulfillment

Psychology over biology, gimmicks and tricks cloaking theology
Against mother nature; a thinly disguised misogyny
Overlooking every prodigy in favor of arrogant audacity

Where cash makes money, and coins make paper
But the lack of a contract and ink stings while you wither
Where the rich steal and the poor pilfer, a thin line in between
Reality lies through its teeth just to shatter your dreams

A cult of liars and lawyers, hypocrites and politics, waiting for a chance to loot
But I'd rather suffer empty-handed than live with bullshit in a $uit
