Fallen Angel

Fallen Angel

A Poem by AMMD

Hidden beneath mountainous sheets
of heated sand and
towering shades of
earthen metal
exists more than
one perception of
the universe.

There are those
knowingly ignorant of a
nightmare reality
dwelling in the shadows
of the sun.
Cautiously aware,
yet blind eyed, afraid of the
unknown familiar and all
of its terrible possibilities.

Some,
their numbers few,
are straight from
Heaven born.
Life a sweet promise
on firm cement with
graceful strides over
the invisible sewage
restless below.

There are those,
too, of the
grey mattered mush
of flesh, skin, and bone.
Lotus flowers aspiring,
withering, or dying all
on their own.

Then there are the fallen angels.
Suits of grime filled cotton
cover buttered wings
and a broken soul.
The cursed midas has the
ever present hunger of
a vacuum plugged
straight into
hell.

It is he who is closest
to the sun
who most feels the
chill of night
and longs for
His
soul.

Others reject or ignore
the twisted understanding
of His love,
like spilled coffee
on a checkered floor.
Vain thoughts
and actions fill a
painful, primal void.

Is it possible to
find peace of
mind in a
troubled world?

Whose hand moves
the leaden feather
none can tell.
The dark counter
balance fills his
song--
and yet he will be
Icarus still.

'.. Is it possible to .. find peace of .. mind in a .. troubled world? . Perhaps we need make considered choices, steer our own personal ships, then - hope and pray.

From start to finish you lay thoughts and visuals for the reader to pause at and consider. And (i know, don't start with.. ) for me that is what writing should do - inspire me to properly read a second time to see if anything's gone unnoticed.

Seems you''ve used different references from Life as is to that of the ancient gods, from how both emotions and logic control.. NO!.. steer the mind further, onward.

You are welcome :)
Wow what an extraordinary piece of philosophical writing... so much wisdom and conviction in your words leaving the reader with so much to think about... certainly the world does have so much depth and each set of eyes sees only parts of it so everyone has their views depending on their vision. Great writing.
