  • After losing in 2016, Assam Congress is gearing up for the upcoming Assembly Election of Assam.
  • The Assam Congress has announced an alliance of more than five political parties to contest election against the BJP.
  • Congress state president, Ripun Bora announced that Congress, Ancahlik Gana Morcha, Communist Party of India (CPI), CPI(Marxist), CPI(Marxist-Leninist) and All India United Democratic Front will fight together.
  • Ripun further announced that the doors of the alliance are open for other regional parties and those political outfits who are anti-BJP.
  • Although, the date of the Assembly polls in Assam is still not declared by the election commission.
