A Poem by Doug Johnson
"

A poem that I wrote as a way of dealing with something I was going through. I wasn't sure quite how to understand what was happening, so writing about it was my way around that.

"

She cries in the dark

When no one can see

She shares her fears

Just her, and just me

She talks about death

When no one’s around

She screams her pain

Without making a sound

She reaches out

Needs a friend

No idea how

To make this end

There’s nobody there

And so she learns

Just how much this,

This sadness burns

Tell me a story

Her whispered request

The tears hold him back

But he still does his best

He tells her of a boy

Madly in love

With a beautiful girl

Lovelier than anything he’d dreamed of

She carried him through

When he couldn’t go on

Marched him through the dark

Until they reached the dawn

You have a nice voice

As her eyes start to fade

He would give up his voice

If she could have stayed

He reaches out

But she is gone

The mourning dove had cried

Its final song

Away she would fly

Away from this place

With something he hadn’t seen

A smile on her face

I'm a teenager that loves writing. It's as simple as that. It would be nice to make a career of it, but it mostly just makes me happy. more..
