Why?

Why?

A Poem by Avery Ash
"

I gave this to the boy I liked, hoping it would bring us together. It did, but only for a month.

"

Why?

Why must you look at me that way?

You look into my eyes, and yours never stray.

That deep ocean blue, they draw me right in.

I fight to stay sane, but I never win.

Why must you talk to me so much?
The sound of your voice makes my hands want to touch

Those nice hands of yours, so warm and soft,

Used to keep me on earth when my mind is aloft.

Why must you listen to what I say?

When I have problems, you go out of your way

To listen, really listen, and then you would try

To help me get through them and help me get by.

Why must you always be so nice?
If something goes wrong, you never think twice

About helping that person and making their day.

When I'm with you, I always feel this way.

Why do you make me feel the way I do?
My mind is spinning, and all I see is you.

So take my hand, pull me down from the sky,

Take me back to reality, where it's just you and I.

I just typed this from memory, so some of it might be wrong.
I'm just too lazy to go get my book right now. =]

I can certainly see why this poem worked. If I had recieved that as a young lad, it would have sent me reeling. You're a fine poet, Avery.
