This succint write has much going on beneath the surface Gowan J. The style is relaxed and makes the reader think about how something like food abuse disorders can become so 'normal' to those who suffer. 'Feelng fine' is such a strong phrase because it conflicts with the actuality of the effects of such behaviour (acid causing mouth and throat cancers, heart trouble, depression).
I think its a very good observational piece. informing without judging.
