Elegiac

Elegiac

A Poem by Aarontastic
"

le sigh...just something I thought up quickly, because I have posted in a while.

"
The news reached me only the other day,
and I greeted it with an awkward smile:
apparently, you survived that strange fray
and I am very grateful for that knowledge.
I had desired once to make them pay,
but now all that I'm concerned with is you
Would words between us really be a sin?
What's the worst that I could possibly do?
but there is another in your life now
I hear, and I should let you start again.

Missing you is a heavy price,
but this is how life goes--
the greatest form of sacrifice
is the kind that no one knows.

Nice Elegy. I have done one, for Sylvia Plath. This is a different kind of death and I think it works really well here. Very creative. Your last stanza was the best for me. Short and really showed the cost to you. Letting go of someone you cared about is the hardest thing to do. I'm still not able to do it. :P So I feel you on that.

Blessings, Tammy

I like how this was personal yet also ambiguous enough to be easily related to. The abruptness really helped to convey the weightyness of longing and sacrifice.
