I knew

I knew

A Poem by Bee

As you slept on the bus, your hand still tightly gripping mine, the innocence on your face reminds me why I can not stay.
1am, homeward bound on the motorway, as we pass each orange street light I can't help but feel further away.
Oblivious to my heart breaking, you sleep on.

I don't want to end our dream but it is no longer my reality. I dissolved myself in your simplicity and lost sight of me.
You are baby blue. anxious. Beautiful.
I am blood orange, stellar at filling silence.
I could keep faking these smiles for my audience but I have hardened cradling your soft heart.

Your eyes slowly open until your are awake. we are closer to home but I couldn't feel further away.

"get any sleep at all?" you ask
"a little" I lie
you smile wide
tears sting the back of my eyes
"I love you" says Baby Blue.
"I love you too" says Blood Orange,
filling her silence.

I can easily relate to your poem , I love the style of the words
The honesty , we do lie sometimes , when we feel love ended but we don't want to admit
