Parting Gift

Parting Gift

A Poem by Dig a Pony
"

First in a long, long time

"

My little bird once flew in the sky
My little bird once flew too high
Crashes and flames, my plane no more to fly
In the ocean swim plenty of fish
You could find a better one if you truly do wish
This one doesn't love you since you up and missed
So when you walk up the hills of sand
You will see a place where the wheel no longer stands
What brilliant lights no longer show
Was a pier with a fair overtaken by snow
And see there hanging from a tree
Is a lack of apples to share with me
The fruit of our bliss no longer to see
The fruit of our song no longer falls from the tree
In the tree is a nest
Where the things you loved best
Will be put in a jar
And become naught but a memory from afar
Moving for the sake of motion
You'll take your turn to find a new notion
A notion of a better dream
A one who can fill those shoes your life seems to lead
This little bird grew a new pair of wings
This little bird won't stop your finding of things
This little bird wont hinder your dreams
I am a bird
You do not ride on my wings
