On The Inside

On The Inside

A Poem by Abigale LeCavalier

She talks in absolutes

reminding me;

I have only seen her

in other peoples poetry.

And in my mind

she dances on fire,

a shutterbug,

laughing at the wind

breathing in the air.

Smiling.

I want to get

too know her,

too place my hand

in her hand,

I want her to tell me

what it is she sees,

in MY eyes.

And I sit here wondering,

if she knows

I am watching,

if she knows

that I'm smiling

on the inside.

But I'm not yet showing my teeth.

~~ for me... this is about a girl... who is about to make the transition to being a woman... and is perhaps inspired by someone who is already an accomplished woman... ~~ there's a lot said by implication... very skilfully and sensitively...
