Gambit and Rogue, two mutant superhumans with the ability to transmit energies and fly through space-time with handsome speed, were ordered by their guru Professor X to travel to California to deal with a 'towering inferno' possibly created by terrorists from foreign lands.

GAMBIT: This skyscraper's lit on hell-fire!
ROGUE: The terrorists are working from inside the building!
GAMBIT: Who knew California'd become a pit of darkness?
ROGUE: Ain't this the darkness meant for us, darlin'?
GAMBIT: It sure the hell is, Rogue.
ROGUE: Well, we need to fly in from top and search for flame-roots.
GAMBIT: It perhaps goes to the electric room.
ROGUE: That's most likely in the basement.
GAMBIT: So we fly from top and put out fires first!
ROGUE: Then, we travel to the lower area to deal with electric-room!
GAMBIT: Sounds like a plan Professor X would honor.
ROGUE: Let's do it, darlin'.

Gambit and Rogue did as they planned and conceived as what Professor X wished. They flew to the top levels of the blazing California skyscraper and started putting out the hell-fires from the top floors down. Meanwhile, Gambit used his explosive throwing cards of plutonium to disorient the machine-gun terrorists manning the elevators on every floor top-down. Rogue made it to the electric-room basement first, and Gambit followed in 30 minutes. The two mutant superhumans worked with the fiery mess and the wiry 'blob' of short-circuits and created sufficient circuit-breaking dials to create a radial driveway stretching out to the dart-mouth wires from the area of the blazing California skyscraper!
