An opus about a DC heist, inspired by the greatest heist movie ever made, Michael Mann's iconic masterpiece, Heat. Thanks so much for reading (and enjoy!),

In the fair US city of DC, an incredible bank heist was about to take place, of a corrupt Dutch baron's Antwerp diamonds. The thieves were a team of pros, led by Isaac Satan, an Algerian-American bank robber. He'd assembled a team for this DC heist and called his special unit of 5 members, including the African-American getaway driver they picked up at a diner just one day before the actual heist, the Heat Squad (HS). DC was in for an adventure.

The bank is the national bank building in DC and houses the diamonds belonging to the Dutch baron in the vault-room. The Heat Squad had planned this heist for some time, doing inspections of its systems and inside during operating hours. They had the blueprints for the fire-alarm sprinkler system and the computer alarm wiring, since one of the members took a temporary job at the bank as an inside-man to obtain this vital info.

ISAAC SATAN: The inside of this bank is incredible and gives us only 10 minutes to perform this fire-alarm heist.

One of the HS team members goes inside the computer wiring system for the bank alarm in the basement of the building and cuts the wires of the alarm circuit just 1 minute after the HS members walk inside the bank wearing suits, pretending to be separate new customers. This team member also then sets off the fire-alarm sprinkler system.

ISAAC SATAN: The diamonds belonging to the Dutch baron from Antwerp are worth over $20 million, so it's worth it.

The attractive bank manager has the key to the vault-room with the baron's diamonds and must be moved and cajoled quickly. One of the HS team members poses as a customer who's taken hostage by Isaac Satan, the leader and warns the customers that he'll shoot this (fake!) hostage in the foot and cause more panic if everyone doesn't cooperate. Another HS member grabs a guardsman as a hostage, while Isaac demands to know who has the vault-room key. Meanwhile, the fire-sprinklers have gone off, and the bank computer alarm button isn't functioning because of the cut wire. The bank manager, an attractive woman named Sheila, has no choice but to take Isaac to the vault-room in what she expected to be an average day in DC!

As the fire-sprinklers and fire-alarms have been set off, the fire company should be on their way, but in fact, a stolen Hess truck taken by the HS robber team has been repainted to look like a differing township fire-truck and parked inconveniently right in front of the DC fire-station near the bank being robbed. The driver, one of the HS members has pulled up in front of the DC fire-station driveway in a gas-mask and fire-man jacket and informed the company he has to inspect something for a municipal matter and has left the keys in his truck conveniently, should the company men need to move his inconveniently parked repainted (fake!) fire truck. When the DC fire-station men attempt to use the left keys in the (fake!) parked fire-truck, they can't get the engine to start, since the HS robber member has used a detonator to set off a miniature explosive inside the truck's engine, rendering it dead. The truck is now making it impossible for the DC fire-station men to speed to the bank being robbed, giving the HS team enough of a time-distraction to ward off any police thinking there's a robbery going on instead of just a harmless fire-alarm problem!

ISAAC SATAN: We're in the bank in suits and standing aside the cameras and putting on masks when the fire-sprinklers go off.

The other inside bank members are all in suits and proceed to put on their masks when the fire-sprinklers go off. They pull out their guns, assembled from plastic-parts inside their briefcases.

Isaac has already used his handgun to grab the HS team member posing as the (fake!) hostage, while the other members put on their disguises and masks. They then grab a guardsman as hostage with their assembled guns and force the other guards to lay down their arms. This is all done within 3 minutes after the fire-sprinklers actually go off!

The final member gets the key from the shocked bank manager Sheila and proceeds to the vault-room and extracts the Dutch baron's $20 million Antwerp diamonds within 3 minutes and begins to usher Isaac and the others to walk out of the bank.

The HS robbers walk out of the bank and begin to take off their masks, while they're still walking out with the (fake!) hostage, who's actually a member of their team that day. When they're all outside, they begin to walk in separate ways, as the fire-station trucks finally begin to arrive to respond to the strange fire-sprinkler problem that day. The HS robbers are now on their way scattered across in different directions.

BANK MANAGER: We're not sure why or how the fire-sprinklers actually went off, but our actual bank alarm wasn't working!

Because the DC fire-station trucks arrived so late, the HS robbers had enough time to walk out of the DC bank with the baron's Antwerp diamonds in about 10-15 smooth minutes, without any cops thinking there was anything funny going on inside the bank itself. The detectives and police are now busy trying to link the strange and now apparently stolen and repainted parked dead fire-truck outside the stalled DC fire-station to the HS robbers!

The DC police now are sure the HS robbers had worked the fire-station distraction stall while disrupting the actual bank security alarm system to give them enough time to take the baron's Antwerp diamonds and walk out before the stalled DC fire-station trucks were able to arrive to see what the hell was actually happening that day inside the bank!

Because the fire-station was wary of that inconveniently parked fire-truck outside their stalled station, they'd called the cops to tip them there might be something funny going on inside the bank that day besides the strange fire-sprinkler/alarm problem. The DC cops are therefore now headed to the bank as the HS robbers were walking out and scattering in different directions with their masks off.

The HS robbers were to meet in front of a nearby Wells Fargo bank where their African-American getaway driver would be parked and waiting in a brown Audi. However, the cops are now chasing the scattered men in the streets, suspecting they're randomly walking around in suits, with already collected testimony from the bank manager Sheila that the robbers were masked but men in suits. The getaway driver doesn't see the HS robbers arrive at this parked car and begins to worry!

The HS robbers have no choice but to now use their guns and start shooting at the DC cops stalking them in the streets as suspects, and all hell has broken out. Fortunately, Isaac's HS team are excellent shots and managed to use their gun skills to create circles and areas of rapid perimetry conflagrations enabling them to start fleeing away from the advancing and lurking flanks of the DC street-cops. What a day, folks.

When the African-American getaway driver notices that his team mates haven't arrived successfully at the parked car site by the nearby Wells Fargo bank, he performs a suicide-mission and starts driving around mad with honking horns to distract and disorient the cops shooting and chasing the scattered HS robbers in the streets. This young black man is shot and killed by one of the DC cops but helps the other HS robbers escape!

ISAAC: We lost a great man today.
CHRIS (another HS member): He chose to do the suicide-hero thing to help us escape.
MARTY (another HS member): We're suspecting the dude was a lone-star who wanted some random adventure.
ISAAC: Well, maybe they'll trumpet him in some news-comic.

DC MAYOR: We lost $20 million diamonds today, and we're certain we can track these nefarious robbers and ID them soon.

Meanwhile, the DC heist has indeed generated a fair deal of local news gossip regarding the Dutch baron's Antwerp diamonds, and it's generated underworld rumors that the diamonds were actually 'blood diamonds' from South Africa and linked to warlords or terrorism. Of course, Isaac's HS team had no idea the stolen diamonds that day were somehow linked to nefarious warlord news in South Africa, folks.

ISAAC: This was a tale of Washington tragedy, and our accidental vigilantism with these blood diamonds was sadly luck.
