Young detectives/officers Mills and Somerset square-off metaphysically with the anti-Christian serial-killer John Doe in a case about damnation.

One more tribute-vignette inspired by the iconic Fincher seriously-noir masterpiece, Se7en, a story which compels us to probe the dark nature of manmade dance. Thanks so much for reading,

The modern US city is a place of great complexity and angst. It's a place where lawyers, musicians, and businessmen gather to give the place of traffic a special heartbeat and hopeful magic, but it's also a place where the liberal free-will of the human being can give rise to forms of invisible evil and dark crimes and criminality itself. All good things flow into the city, and all maladies of man are found within the halls of City Hall. It's why we find appropriate dissection of basic social as well as home-life/domestic values, and it's why we make movies about city-dwellers with great personal dilemmas. It's why we find this modern tale of a psychotic serial-killer named John Doe who's preying on inhabitants of the city who're simply unprotected by the helpless police-force, which includes the valiant young rookie Mills and his aging veteran wise-man mentor Somerset. This is the darkened city in which the ominous AntiChrist serial-killer John Doe has made a home and den, and he intends to make officers Mills/Somerset bow to this modernized vision of a Christian purgatory.

John Doe has already decapitated multiple city prostitutes, linked to various city officials and legal professionals tied possibly to corrupt blood-diamond dealings stretching all the way to British Columbia! While Mills/Somerset scramble to understand why exactly John Doe the serial-killer intends to lambaste these scandal-exposed city officials/professionals with these hooker-deaths, Doe himself intends to use the mankind predilection to use media lights to create vanity folklore which will simply destroy these modern urban bureaucrats. Mills/Somerset decided to stakeout the recent various lawsuits arising in the city's legal buildings because of these scandal-exposing hooker-deaths tied to the serial killer John Doe. It seems to officers Mills/Somerset that John Doe the serial-killer is a dark-man with a certain urban dystopian purpose...or dollar-store intentionality!

DOE: I'm grateful you found the right number to reach me, detectives.
MILLS: You left us your number at your last crime-scene, you clown!
SOMERSET: Don't over-react, young man; Doe has something to tell us.

DOE: Why, thank you, veteran Somerset.
MILLS: Hey, you can talk to me too while we're all in great conference here!
SOMERSET: Mills, you need to take a real chill-pill before we proceed with Doe.

DOE: Thank you, Somerset, but fear not, because I respect young passions among cops.
MILLS: Do you?
SOMERSET: What is it that you wanted to tell us here today, John Doe?

DOE: As you two fine city officers have gathered, my message is anti-Christian.
MILLS: Yes, we got as much from the pattern and signs left at your bloody murders, Doe!
SOMERSET: Are you trying to preach us something about the natural frailty of the city-dweller, Doe?

DOE: I'm merely showing and sowing signs of the Apocalypse, officers.
MILLS: Apocalypse, Doe?
SOMERSET: Do you believe the AntiChrist is emerging among us, perhaps in the American city, Doe?

DOE: I find it funny that young passionate rookie officer Mills has been making media comments about my heresy.
MILLS: Well, excuse us for not pardoning you right-away as the idealized baptist minister of hellfire, Doe.
SOMERSET: No one doubts your wrath, Doe, but why're these bloody murders reflections of Apocalypse signs?

DOE: Each crime-scene reveals something truly deformed about the modern city-dweller.
MILLS: Are you referring to the pride of hooker-scandals, the envy of lawyer-murders, and the greed of family-murders?
SOMERSET: You killed an entire family in the city, Doe, with a strange left sign about Apocalyptic greed, Doe.

DOE: That wayward 'American' family, officers, was led by a father-figure immersed in Wall Street insider-gambling.
MILLS: And of course the two teenage sons benefited financially from all this gambling profits, eh?
SOMERSET: Are you insisting to us through these murders that the AntiChrist reigns in the city through veils?

DOE: The AntiChrist will reign over the American city, through forms of bribery and impression, officers.
MILLS: So why'd you choose to network with us through this iPhone private chat-room, Doe?
SOMERSET: Is this 'net-symbolic' chat-room your special office communication line for professional messaging?

DOE: I do value these tech-resources for real modern communiques, given all the urban bureaucracy!
MILLS: We're sure you're proud of all this city has to offer you, John Doe.
SOMERSET: Well, what'd you want to enlighten us with during this Internet discourse, Doe?

DOE: I'm curious to see what you really think of the dilapidation of basic values in the modern city.
MILLS: You wish to discover if we're actually your messengers of pure psychosis, Doe?
SOMERSET: Are you afraid we're not 'sincere shrinks' in this messaging-experience, Doe?

DOE: I'm merely intrigue by Mills' youthful passion coupled with Somerset's aged weariness at urban crime!
MILLS: So, you've guessed the dynamic of our detective-relationship, but you've told us nothing about yourself.
SOMERSET: Are you some kind of Christianity detective, lurking in the libraries of this city's knowledge?

DOE: I'm no televangelist, if that's what Mills is intimating, Somerset.
MILLS: Hey, I never suggested you're like Jim Baker or something on television, Doe.
SOMERSET: Are you preying on Mills' apparent sensitivity to outright unsolved violent crimes in this city?

DOE: I'm simply wondering how protective Detective Mills is of his own young pretty lawyer-wife, Sheila.
MILLS: What the hell do you know/care about my wife, Doe?
SOMERSET: Whoa, Mrs. Mills is completely unconnected to this modern case, John Doe!

DOE: I know, I know, but I want Mills to feel the same fear I've instilled in all my Christian victims.
MILLS: So at least you refer to them as victims...and not witnesses of your insane mega-plan!
SOMERSET: Excuse Mills' natural youth, Doe, but you musn't blame him for natural rage.

DOE: It's this very-same rage that fuels my criminal messages in this great purgatory-city.
MILLS: Purgatory, Doe?
SOMERSET: Are you now saying these victims comprise an unsolved purgatory, Doe?

DOE: Everyone will languish in purgatory until this city bows to the reality of urban darkness!
MILLS: Darkness of what...of self-proclaimed frustrated criminal-insanity, John Doe?
SOMERSET: Are you at all interested in seeking some kind of medical attention, Doe?

DOE: I don't need doctoring; I just want to discover Mills' soft brain.
MILLS: I have a beautiful mind, and I defy your claim that you've 'discovered' anti-romance!
SOMERSET: Mills and I insist, John Doe, that you simply need some kind of modern doctor.

DOE: You'll all see the scales of urban depression when I reveal what Mills' wife has betrayed to me.
MILLS: What the hell are you blabbering about now, you freaked out psychopath?
SOMERSET: Please don't involve Mrs. Mills in this darkened urban drama of human blindness, Doe.

The dark-man John Doe decided ultimately to spare the helpless wife of Detective Mills, the passionate if headstrong young officer in this hellish city of sin. Sheila was in the end alright and safe from bloody murder. However, John Doe proceeded in his terrible criminal spree of hellmouth-messaging until he'd delivered all his bizarre 'sermons' revealing the terrible reality of unchecked modern urban criminality and criminal-insanity. This was the ultimate message of the modern serial-killer John Doe --- no, he didn't wish to expose the natural frailty of the human soul, for such knowledge was well-established. No, sir, this guy simply wanted officers Mills/Somerset to feel the gravity and depravity of crimes connected to unavoidable natural sins and lust, crimes that wouldn't be considered anything but ties to some metaphysical or symbolic dialogue about the deep nature of criminal-insanity itself! Yes, sir, Mills/Somerset had no choice in the end but to conclude that the nefarious serial-killer John Doe, who ultimately committed suicide in a city library, that criminal-insanity was the hallmark of ugly dollars.
