Game 7 of the incredible 2016 World Series brings a special Chicago Cubs fan hopes that his team will win its first title in 100 years and justify all those baseball-card buys!

"
A special sports-fable fanfiction-nod to the iconic and important 2016 World Series (Cubs-Indians), which saw Chicago win its first title in 100 years, and it's thrilled many a Cubs fan...like me! What do you think (enjoy!)?
DISCLAIMER: I've never actually lived in Chicago and consider myself simply a 'Cubs-TV' fan of baseball democracy!

I love America. I've been a baseball fan for years, and I collected baseball-cards as a kid. I love Chicago, the Windy City, home of the Cubs baseball team. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs squared off the fun Cleveland Indians in the World Series of American baseball (MLB) which went to Game 7 in the best-of-seven series. This was a diamond moment for Chicago, the first time the Cubs had won the title in 100 years! I was there.

GIRLFRIEND: Amlan, my boyfriend, loves baseball, baseball-cards, Cubs stuff, and Chicago; I just try to keep him warm!

The 2016 World Series was a great thrill for me, a lifelong Cubs baseball fan. I have the Ryne Sandberg Cubs rookie card (Topps) after all! Yes folks, the Cubs are my favorite baseball team, with only the Kansas City Royals or Arizona Diamondbacks coming even close! Yes, the Cubs had a tight series in this World Series, winning just one game in their home Wrigley Field (Game 5) by a rare tight score of 3-2. Only Game 3 was a tight-score (1-0), with the Indians winning in Wrigley. All the other games in the Series were blowouts by one team or the other, with the Indians firing first 6-0, followed by a 5-1 Cubs victory in Progressive Field in Game 2.

I consider myself a sports journalist and Cubs diorama and cards specialist. I like all kinds of Cubs players/cards like Mark Grace, Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Kris Bryant, Andre Dawson, Frank Chance, and on and on. Yes, folks, I'm a Cubs nerdist, and when the Cubs grabbed their first title chance in 100 years in the 2016 Series, I was there to record the exciting American story as a real sports journalist!

The series started out and ended in Progressive Field, which is what was expected for the favored Indians if it went to Game 7, since they had home-field advantage! I was worried about this, even more so, since the Cubs managed to win only 1 game in the best-of-seven in their home Wrigley Field. Progressive Field feels like a giant forest, appropriate for the style of the fun Cleveland Indians, friends.

I have a Kris Bryant Topps Chrome Cubs rookie-card, which I keep in mint-condition. This is a rare beauty, a real trophy of modern American baseball fanfare! Any fan of the Cubs World Series hopes would appreciate the modern timeless symbolism of this important Chicago sports memento, as do I, really!

As Game 7 started, my beloved Cubs scored first, early in the first inning, and then seemed to continue to score first to stay ahead, while the Indians seemed more scrappy and tagging if quickly behind to keep the pace and gap small.

Yep, the Cubs kept ahead through most of the first 7 innings of this 2016 World Series Game 7. Remember, the exciting wins for the Cubs in this 7-series was made possible by good plays and pitching and excellent batting by Kris Bryant and MVP Ben Zobrist. Yep, the Cubs kept ahead of the action through 7 innings, frustrating the weary Indians defense, and I was stomping my feet, waiting for the Cubs champagne after 100 years.

It seemed like my Cubs were destined to take the easy win in Game 7, since they're the captains of offense in this final game of the Series, keeping the Indians somehow just wandering right behind if closely but certainly.

That's when the dangerous if fun Indians struck in the bottom of the 8th inning, scoring 3 huge runs and bringing the score to a dead 6-6 tie, a tie which wouldn't be upset until the late heavy extra 10th inning of this 5-hour Game 7 in Progressive Field (Cleveland)!

Somehow, the Cubs hung on to a 2-1 run lead in the extra late 10th-inning, holding the Indians to just one run in that last inning of the 2016 World Series thanks to predictable pitching/defense. The Cubs had pulled off the 100-miracle, and I was on my feet and had to kiss my girl.

GIRLFRIEND: I couldn't believe how happy Amlan was, and I think this has justified all his fan card purchases.

SPORTS_WRITER: What makes Chicago baseball so special is the unique color of on-field competitive mentalism.
