Amlan Satan is an Algerian-American living in DC and does blood-diamond Interpol-relations analysis for the company Cigna. He also dabbles in his recreational time with various sci-fi drawings and comics. He's particularly a fan of the Alien and Robotech franchises which offer various rich imagery regarding space-demons.

ESMERELDA: I've been married to Amlan for 2 years, and I think his Robotech thing is quite endearing.

Amlan and Esmerelda and their pet dog Wolfie live in a very nice home outside DC. Wolfie likes watching Robotech cartoons on YouTube with Amlan.

Amlan thinks living in/near DC is like entreating modern civilization consciousness regarding the ergonomics of serious patriotism. After all, it's the US capital and everyone regards it as a civilization tower of governance idealism.

Amlan and Esmerelda just had a child, son Damian, and dad's buying/planning development-toy gifts for him.

Amlan has used various math-metrics and quadratic governance models to create planar analyses of mass population dynamics in regards to diamond-markets and capital flow into North America, related to anti-terrorism operations with Interpol-links. Amlan regards all this research very scientific and ninja-like, but perhaps this is the source of his fascination with science-fiction!

Amlan has been collecting Robotech models and comics for years, and perhaps his son will consider these antiques reflective of home-dreams or imagination play. Amlan can't get enough of this stuff.

AMLAN: I consider myself an 'American Prince' and Robotech-fanfare my expression of living design/theater.

Robotech junkies are not unlike 'Trekkies' (Star Trek fans), but the Robotech franchise is much more open-ended and youthful and less serious than Star Trek. Therefore, Robotech toys reflect a natural human fascination with generic space-courage.

AMLAN: I'd dreamt once I was transported through a space-portal and landed in the Robotech-plane as Max Sterling!

Of course, Max Sterling is the ace pilot-commander and leader in the Robotech universe, and many of the toys and robots and machinery in the Robotech franchise surround Sterling adventures in space and time, and Amlan collects these items to re-present his curiosity about using sci-fi imagination/play to create world-views on democracy.

At the heart of Amlan's Robotech 'empire' lays the rare and million-dollar 'Pink Diamond' from New Zealand, which represents the Sterling space-adventure universe treasures regarding finding valuables in times of warfare. The Pink Diamond was said to be discovered (in Robotech-media) during a Sterling pilot-raid on the evil army of the robotic Invid. Amlan keeps this precious gem in his home and tells his friends, "This is the stuff of Robotech democracy."
