Amlan, Marcus, and Raki were friends from Dartmouth currently living in LA and managing a California Pizza Kitchen branch. They decided to fly to Romania to see Bucharest night-clubs and flew on Tarom airlines in the summer of 2010.

When they arrived in Romania, Amlan used his inheritance-money to buy shares in a Bucharest night-club called the Ostrich which was to be outfitted as a hip young hangout for young working professionals in Eastern Europe.

AMLAN: We need to do something more daring, brothers.

MARCUS: How about a bank robbery in Los Angeles?

RAKI: We'll call ourselves the Scooters!

Before Amlan and his two buddies left Bucharest, Amlan befriended a refugee from Southeast Asia named Esha and decided to bring her to LA with them. She'd been living on the streets and needed a true friend who'd change her life, so Amlan brought her to the USA with Marcus/Raki.

The 'Scooters' (Amlan/Marcus/Raki) flew back to LA on Tarom airlines with Esha with them. They'd decided to rob a bank in LA and set-up Esha first in Amlan's fancy LA loft as they planned their heist of the Euro-gems belonging to the blood-diamond baron Goldfinger who's known to be dabbling in terrorism-financing in North America.

AMLAN: We'll rob the bank where Goldfinger stores his blood-diamonds in the safe-box area.

MARCUS: We'll ride to the bank in scooters and masks/costumes!

RAKI: We'll wield water-guns filled with acid for this diamond-heist.

GOLDFINGER: No one should lay their little grubby fingers on my gems in Los Angeles!

Amlan had always been a fan of guerrilla politics and read the works of Che Guevara and Frantz Fanon. He'd read about the underground stories of Baron Goldfinger who's using gems smuggled from Africa used to finance rogue terrorists around the world and complicating modern politics. Amlan decided he was the leader of the thief-team the 'Scooters' and planned the Goldfinger-heist with fun precision in LA. Amlan's a real nerd!

MARCUS: We have to be wary of Goldfinger's ties to insider-police in Los Angeles.

The bank in LA where Goldfinger kept his blood-diamonds is truly awesome. The security is air-tight, so the 'Scooters' thief-team (Amlan/Marcus/Raki) had to create a theatrical presentation to avoid both security systems and media glow so Goldfinger wouldn't suspect too much involvement with the bank or the people of LA. Amlan and the Scooters staked-out the bank before the heist, while Esha studied which police in the LAPD office were known to be connected to Goldfinger. Raki took photos of the bank.

AMLAN: We'll be riding into the downtown area of the bank in nifty cream-colored scooters!

The 'Scooters' (Amlan/Marcus/Raki) pulled up to the LA bank in masks/costumes claiming they're part of a California theater-team making street-show about Goldfinger and wanted media-photos of the baron's gems under supervision by a guardsman of course and showed their toy water-guns which were part of their street-theater!

BANK MANAGER: Business at the very busy bank that day was above-normal and peaceful!

The Scooters presented their 'case' to the manager who was amused and told an escorting guardsman to talk them to the vault room so they'd take photos of Goldfinger's Euro-gems for their little street-theater about California capitalism humors.

Once inside the immaculate glowing vault-room area where the safe-box containing Goldfinger's blood-diamonds lay, Amlan distracted the escorting guardsman with his juggling water-guns while Marcus/Raki discreetly switched Goldfinger's gems with replica-fakes hidden in their shirt-lining as Amlan and the guardsman were standing right in front of the security camera, with the guardsman playing with the water-guns and Amlan waving his hands in front of the security camera. They didn't even have to disclose to the guardsman that day that their water-guns were filled with corrosive acid!

Esha bought Amlan a nifty Anaheim (California) Ducks (ice-hockey) Christmas-in-July trophy-sweater after the 'Scooters' thief team (Amlan/Marcus/Raki) celebrated their successful Goldfinger-heist in Los Angeles, the City of Angels.

Amlan/Esha rode around in the LA metro that night to celebrate the life of the city, both a little drunk on wine! The Scooters' heist on scooters proved to be the right Robin Hood theater for the City of Angels.
