The Maze

The Maze

A Poem by Antonio
"

Finding oneself in a confused state

"
A wall confronts me
It is moist and full of moss
Must be forty feet tall
I am confused, I turn around.

The side walls are just as tall
I accelerate my walk
The path has no end
I can't find the way out.

My mind wonders
how did I get here?

I reach another wall, there's a crossroad
I have been here before or maybe not
Left, I should go left
Last time I went right or maybe not

I can't make up my mind
What does this mean?

I continue, is this wall taller?
The stones look at me
But they are all the same
The dew smell is making me sick
My steps are getting tired
My body slugs through

I used to be sure on my walk
Why am I lost?

Only earth benith my feet
I see the daisy again,
Clinging to the wall
The damn daisy.

The damn sun,
A sweat drop slaloms down my face
I don't bother to wipe it out
Another will take its place.

I haven't been able to sleep
Why is there a single life?

The surreal medieval towers
Appeared as in a dream
Imposing they were calling me in
With an ageless appeal.

They were not there before
There was only the meadow
Where my life rested
And peace was in my mind

A small stroll, just a little taste,
It will be OK
What was this fortress doing in this space?

Life was fine, until I came to rest
Then the vision appeared.
Now, I can't get out and
go back to my happy place.
