the enigma

the enigma

A Poem by That Black Bat Licorice
"

A reply: to the people who stare at me on the street.

"
I don’t want a
c**k
but I want to have enough
balls
to say what I feel
what I really mean
without being called a f*****g
p***y
I want the freedom to express
my masculinity
without people staring at my
crotch
asking
if I want to be a
boy
asking
who raised me
asking
why my voice is so deep
asking
why I prefer to cosplay
male characters
asking
why I clip my hair so short
asking
why I don’t fit inside
the box labelled
butch” or “femme
asking
why I’m such an enigma
as if I know the final lines
of a book that’s yet
to be scripted.
