Day Weight

Day Weight

A Poem by Ind1992
"

A daily struggle that I believe we all feel.

"

My day is determined by the weight on my body as I wake,

The grams and tonnes that hold me down,

Some days I wake arise with a feather on my chest,

The day is light and full of wondrous smiles,

Others, I am shackled by the worries of my world,

Anchored by the discomfort of my anxiety,

Without a balloon in sight,

What will lighten my load?

I squirm with the tightness of its grip.

Swallowed by its gravity,

I carry the burden of my mind like a donkey in African heat,

Beating me down, melting my aspiration,

My footing is weak and beginning to buckle,

But I am weak now,

So I sleep,

Praying for a feathery sunrise.
