I watched the sun come up this morning

I watched the sun come up this morning

A Poem by Jacob Galloway

I watched the sun come up this morning.
Astounded by its beauty,
As it served as a reminder,
That I was blessed to wake up this morning,
What a blessing indeed.
Its beauty entirely unrivaled,
Except by that of your smile--
As while the sun serves as a reminder of my physical living,
Your smile is serves as a reminder of my emotional living.
The sun filling me with existence,
Whilst your smile fills me with love.
Not the physical beauty of your smile,
But its representation of you as a human.
It's as bright as ever, enough so to be blinding;
I speak both of you and the sun.
And while one provides my physical warmth,
The other supplies warmth to my hearth.
Alone, the sun is meaningless.
And without the sun, we'd be meaningless.
And despite all the beauty in life,
The relationship between you and I is similar.
You, like a sun.
I, like a flower.
Our bond, a system,
Providing meaning to each other.
I woke up to a sun this morning,
But it wasn't the one in the sky.
