The Net

A Poem by C. M. Miller
"

Inspired by a loving obituary from a man for his wife.

"

I feel . . . I hear . . . I taste . . . I remember . . .

She is never ancient memory when it comes down to the timeless beats of my heart . . .

It is now for me, though it was years ago I first felt the sweet taste of her whispers,
the velvet heat of her tongue.

Even now I see clearly around the curves of time when she first joined her sweet hips to mine . . .

Yesterday just a blink to the now of my remembrance, and she is with me again, filling my horizons, her ageless eyes full of life and promises kept . . .

Then she is gone again, swept away once more by the misty tide of years between the having, and the having

not . . .

A timeless drifter am I,
walking alone upon a lonely shore, casting the net of her memory one more time before the setting sun is cooled by the sea . . .

I often wonder when I come upon poetry like this, why it is void of comment. There are very few men on this site that can write with the intensity you do, and I am so thrilled to be able to say, "yeah, me and Charles are friends"!

You make that lump in my throat feel so palpable when you write like this. I've had so much going on in my life that I haven't been around for quite some time, and it's been even longer since I've been able to write. It truly inspires me to read this, more than I can say.

You know where you can always reach me...never forget it, ok?

My very best,
