LOVE'S WHIMSEY

LOVE'S WHIMSEY

A Poem by C. M. Miller

Is there time to consider . . .

Are you that pleasant unknown?
Are you one of Frost’s roads
less traveled?

I mean to say, would babbling brooks
cease to babble were I to run my fingers
through the silky seduction of your hair?

Would birds in the sky
quit birding were I to think about
kissing the small of your back?

Will butterflies quit buttering only because
I want to explore the treasures of you with
my questioning hands?

Will clocks quit clocking (oh, I do hope so!)
were you to surrender yourself to my touch?

Pondered questions do not
guarantee answers, pondered . . .

Consider time then . . .
like a grain of salt in the ocean.

What a poetic delight this was to read, Charles! The small of a woman's back has always been my favorite erogenous zone, in a poem...and otherwise!

This is required reading, over and over again!

How delightful! Such gentle tenderness as seen through the window of the mundane...........being made more tender as the mundane disappears into its own non-language [will the butterfly stop buttering]. Loved it!

I love that you used Frost here.....his speech is so visceral but you toyed with it as he always known for themes of life's loneliness and yet you explore basic instinct... the pure pleasure of touching another on so many levels. Funny that you should use grain of salt in your last stanza..."to accept a thing less than fully"...........unplug the clock---turn of your blackberry and enjoy the journey of balance and acceleration to its fullest.

A beautiful poem about beautiful love.

You've created some very special phrases 'Would birds in the sky quit birding were I to think about ..kissing the small of your back? .. Consider time then . . . like a grain of salt in the ocean. '

A great and special post. Thank you for sharing.

A classic from you... and you are a wonderful writer. I have not forgotten about you, I'm just rarely here nowadays...

The ending of this (last line) is perfect.
