Its all about picking yourself back up and dusting yourself off.

Sunshine glitter and rainbow dust shoots out of every orifice.

She’s a big ol’ ball of happiness despite the quick wit and fluent sarcasm.

Every little word has an air of bitterness

Every smile hides a hint of dolor.

She’s laughing and brilliant amidst the world that’s trying to bring her down

Her sparkle could shimmer in the shadow.

This whole life’s given her nothing but grief,

But she’s making it through,

Yea she’s making it through.

Picking herself up time

After time

After time

After time and again,

Dusting herself off and tightening her grin,

Telling the whole world to bring it as she stands eye to eye with the flame.

Anyone else would have thrown in the towel,

Would have thrown up their hands and brushed away the brilliance

Of a sun that would shine even after the atom bomb blew,

Into a million pieces, Kaboom--

Shattered dreams splattered across the pavement.

But there’s that smile,

Lighting up the night, more brilliant than a thousand full moons.

She’s going strong and she’s not giving in

While everything’s struggling to tie the noose about her throat

She holds up her head and whispers:

“Not today.

Not ever again.”
