My Epitaph

My Epitaph

A Poem by Amanda

The start of life God gave to me,
Its end not mine to choose;
The middle, though, was my one chance:
Live well, or life misuse.

For every person on this earth
Has but one choice to make:
Take life as is, and make it yours,
Or prospects grand forsake.

One path may lead to fortunes large,
A life filled up with fame;
Another leads to dark despair,
Where no one knows your name.

And one more path, so rarely trod,
Where stride the brave, the great;
The path of honor and success,
Yet lined with strife and hate.

And so, I hope I took the path
Of those who’ve done so well;
My life was only mine to live—
Its outcome, yours to tell.

Just for fun, because I was reading epitaphs at the time.
