My Love for You

 

You are the only one who has my heart,

And now to you my feelings must be shown,

For in these last years they have only grown,

And never once diminished since their start.

My love for you is ever strong and pure,

With never doubt, nor confidence betrayed,

And my heart from your heart has never strayed,

But stays with you, forever calm and sure.

Yet now I place my heart within your hand

And hope that you’ll not toss it to the floor

With careless grace, and miss the hopes you tore—

The heart whose blood now soaks into the land.

I tell you that my love is always true,

And shall be ever, only, all for you.

Another modified-Petrarchan sonnet. I'm rather fond of the style.
