Escapade

Escapade

A Poem by Aethereal
"

Two strangers meet in the night as emotional fireworks go off.

"
Escapade

Captivated by the night
strangers on a rendezvous
finding mutual delight
drink to all the loves they knew,

those affairs that passions bred
with stout champions now all dead.

Under moon and candle light
fascinations once taboo
make 'em hold each other tight
as they follow every cue.

Bodies tangled toe to head
touch in places where they're led.

The impending needs of two
who conspire to end their plight
cause us all to think anew
of the sanctity of right.

In the morning, each shall shed
wantonness for a cool head.

I wonder why but this poem reminds me of the movie Before Sunrise. It is sad, as the ending couplet points out, that physical and emotional intimacy get separated in our minds when pleasure and longing overcome the saner aspects of our brains. Extra props for the structure, by the way. Always a fan of rhymed poetry!

You describe two inlove people who are physically infatuated with one another and could not wait before after they say I DO . But you penned it very beautiful. The choice of words were not sensual nor erotic in nature .Yet still captured and painted the picture of two people madly inlove with one another before they even thought of tying the knot .

A very nice rendition of two strangers meeting and parting. The last couplet nailed the whole thing. It's not called the walk of shame for nothing.
