Diamond EyesA Poem by AethilHe found her once an autumn night, between the mountains and the sea.A small
harp, hands of ivory, Playing
with pleasing pace was she. He found
her once an autumn night Between the
mountains and the sea. She watched
him with eyes of diamonds, Her
thoughts were jingling like jewels. She had no
pulse, she had no light Her touch
was harsh but she was bright. And silent
winds blew her afar. She
vanished like a falling star, He sat
forever still to wait, Refused to
know it was too late. A cold
body, and inert hands, Her scent
was spread across the lands. He found
her on a winter night, Between the
mountains and the sea. She bled
red rubies, hard and cold, Her silent
tears of molten gold, Her
whispered words round and golden; Dying
screams of a treasure’s heart. And last of
all he asked her name, The one for
which he went insane. His
intrigued eyes met her glazed look. “Power,”
she whispered, “Absolute.” Tormented
by her dying breath He holds
her corpse crushed to his chest. Death found
him on a springtime night Between the
mountains and the sea. © 2010 AethilAuthor's Note
