Nobody Can Tell

Nobody Can Tell

A Poem by Amy Hale

I leave my shoes at my doorstep
And slip into a bed of oblivion
It's so much easier to fall away
Rather than dwelling on each and every day

Nobody can tell,
Nobody can quite tell,
That I cried myself to sleep
And this downhill is so steep

I think I would take anything else
But another set of soles would leave a hole in my heart
All of these problems in different forms
Are masquerades with the same decay

Nobody can tell,
Nobody can quite tell,
That I cried myself to sleep
And this downhill is so steep

So, I leave my shoes at my doorstep
And slip into a bed of oblivion

So, toughen up young girl,
I say to myself.
Don't let them pull you along,
With their empty self-righteous flaws

Cause....
Nobody can tell
Nobody can quite tell...
That I cried myself,
Yes I cried myself,
Yes I cried myself to sleep.
