I would have stayed in bed today...

I would have stayed in bed today...

A Poem by Amy Hale

Someone just get me away from here
My veins are pounding with tumultuous fears.
I wish I could find a good way out
Some way pain-free and without doubt
If I had known of all this pain,
I would have stayed in bed today.

How can I feel so helpless
All these feelings are becoming restless
Inching up my throat; they creep inside.
The tears begin to sting my sullen eyes
If I had known of all this pain,
I would have stayed in bed today.

If I had known all this hospitality
would result in nothing but a backfired reality
If I had known all this misplaced blame
would blow up in my face unclaimed
If I had known of all this pain,
I would have stayed in bed today.

"If I had known of all this pain I would
have stayed in bed today."

It seems there is a lot of blame and you
just don`t need that. Blame and arguing are
making you sick and you should have stayed
in bed.

The repetition, "I should have stayed in bed today",
tells me that you knew this might happen, but you
are being told, over and over. You are becoming
fearful, "someone get me out of here".

I hope this problem blows over. In the meantime keep
writing. You have written a winning poem and you will
no doubt do more.

I hate to see you in this state, but I love the writing .
