Subway Train

Subway Train

A Poem by Akshay
"

I will stand, tear me apart

"
On a subway train
I found these words written in red
"I love you darling, please refrain"
I walked away with these words in my head
We're all hurt yet we dive in our ignorance

On my dinner plate
Those words I was fed act as black lead
Just like apes we only search to mate
Never trust a man with a gun, he'll only kill himself
Our soul has died, yet we search for sense

In all honesty
Those words are the ones I dread
"I love you darling, this is not a game"
I'm standing in my tracks, approaching is a freight
I understand all these words, still I feel illiterate.

That wall, all the same
I've seen it all
I don't fear that pain
Those words, cracked hearts
I've felt them all
I will stand again just to be picked apart.
