The Final Apology.

Not all apologies will be accepted, unfortunately, this was one of them.

I'm sorry I have caused you such pain,
That my old habits seem to die hard,
For which I find difficult to obstain,
And for breaking your trust into a shard,

I'm sorry I made you feel so unheard,
And sending your heart into fear,
For not making you feel treasured,
And for filling your eyes with tears,

I'm sorry I don't always communicate effectively,
And that I made it seem like I don't care,
for pushing you to react defensively,
And for not always trying to be fair,

I'm sorry I'm not vulnerable when it matters,
And that I only grasped this so late,
for dwelling in my mind and its chatter,
And for inadvertently tempting our fate,

I'm sorry I don't always show I'm aware,
And that I have a habit to withdraw,
From not trying to emotionally share,
And for treating this like some chore,

I'm sorry I can't undo the wounds I've caused,
But with deep reflections I will strive to mend,
I offer my apology sincere and paused,
I promise to be a better me, on who you can depend,

Please forgive my flaws and my imperfect ways,
Please let time be the healer and love be our guide,
As I navigate through these difficult days,
So together again we'll never need to hide.

Some people find it so difficult to say sorry. Here we have many apologies and they appear to be sincere. They may not make a difference, but at least you have tried your best to resolve issues. I felt your stanzas to be a heartfelt apology.

This is painstakingly beautiful. It's difficult that sometimes we have to go through heartbreak to write so emotionally. I hope that this is an outlet that is working for you and that time will help to heal.

It is incredibly painful making these realisations and knowing they had some part in the way things ended, but I'm aware of these things about myself and how I operate and need to be loved now. Sometimes I wish things could have been different, but for the sake of learning a bitter lesson, they weren't. Writing has definitely helped. Thanks for your feedback. In time I will heal. 🙏
