Number One

Number One

A Poem by Alexander143
"

A bittersweet relationship

"
Number one

'Sometimes I can't tell why I'm with you.'
'Well, try telling if you can be with another.'
'You know what...' then it hits me, she's right, it's true;
I can't stand myself unless we're together.

So, I close my eyes-
And take a deep breath through my nose.
Why is it that I just can't realize-
Our arguments' cause?

Effortlessly, I toss myself on the sofa.
Staring at the carpet, I feel her walking to me.
Holding my shoulders, she moves her face to my ear and whispers, 'I know why we differ.'-
'It's the only way we can end up in each others arms constantly.'

Massaging my shoulders, she kisses my neck.
My anger slithers away, and I begin to wonder,
Why should my heart always ache?
But then again, success is sweetest after many a blunder.

A smile creeps on my face, then I murmer-
'I love you.' she pauses for a bit, then she contradicts, 'No, I love you.'
I look up at her, just before she kisses me lightly, the start of another phase of the drama;
I pinch her right hand and slowly say, 'No, I love you.'

I leap from the couch and make for the door.
In the noise and excitement, I hear her footsteps approaching.
So, I pace up and pin my body against the wall.
Taking silent deep breaths, I can hear her running.

Just as she runs passed the door, I seizes her!
In between the chuckles and heavy breaths, she says, 'You caught me.'
Holding her from behind, I just kiss her neck and ask, 'Do you know how beautiful you are?'
She turns around and stares in my hazel eyes, intently.

'No, but I know how wonderful you are.' we both smile.
'You're as beautiful as my eden's first woman.'
So, she draws closer and kisses me lightly.
And just before I kiss her back, she says, 'You're my number one.'

Keep Smiling
