I Was Just A Rosalyn.

I Was Just A Rosalyn.

A Poem by Alexia Rodriguez

The first time we met,
I was entranced,

But not as much as you,
With that girl at that dance.

I am just a Rosalyn

We dated for a while,
Then you wanted more,
And you would get mad at me,
When I stayed silent and ignored.

I am just a Rosalyn,

You then met that girl,
Her name Juliet,
And you wanted her then,
"What you want, is what you get."

I am just a Rosalyn,

I loved you so much,
My dearest Romeo.
I'd even give myself to you,
But now you'll never know.

I am just a Rosalyn.

I really did love you,
And what you wanted,
You would get.

So it tried,
And tried,
And tried my best,
And yet,

I could never be your Juliet.

I was just a Rosalyn.

Ah, but dear Rosalyn/Rosaline skirts disaster and gets to keep living her life, and perhaps even finds someone far more worthy of her affections. It's even possible she gets the happily ever after denied to Romeo and Juliet.

I'm not sure who Rosalyn is. But atleast she didn't commit a double suicide. She probably found a better person than Romeo.
