Proper burial: Nostalgic outbursts

Proper burial: Nostalgic outbursts

A Poem by johnnyqueer
"

Self reflection led me here...

"
Ignorance consumed you. Your eyes are
glossed over in emotions you've tried so hard
to hide below the surface. Beneath the pain
of understanding, embracing the issues
that arise like demons from the fire.

Hold me now. Tell me that the past
was constructed of confusion, and fear.
Put everything behind us, and breathe.
Let your carbon dioxide escape
in a healthy, slow, flow.

When the past creeps up to defeat me,
shake my being back into understanding.
Drag me against you, and cradle me until
the episode is over. Tear at the ground
until fingers cold, find clay.

Remove the entity, of abandonment,
and distress. Relieved, offer prayers
to heavenly beings uninterested
in the war defeated. Place the culprit
within the ground, cover with dirt...

And leave.

I hope no one finds this too corny. I allowed myself to break down to levels lower than I have ever encountered. This is the result of being informed by my parents that being me, is okay. Despite all the fights, and horrible situations... Things will be okay.

There is a power in your words that bespeaks of an emotional intelligence rarely encountered, these days. Being you is more than OK. You're one of those folks who makes the world a more interesting place, simply by being in it.
