Hope.

Hope.

A Poem by johnnyqueer
"

Lonely, it happens every time.

"
Can't you tell by the moisture that grows in my eyes
when you whisper goodbye, that I need you to linger.
I need you to hold me, stay just a little longer.
I want to morph in your embrace, transform like
that of butterfly. I rest in you, my makeshift cocoon.

Tell me tales of your self discovery, comfort me.
Share with me all that fascinates you, allow me to
fixate on all that you adore. I will pray to stars that
somehow I make the list, I'll play naive and stay
until you deceive and play me... They all do.

Lie here a little longer, speak easy with me.
I'll follow you beyond the front door, collapse
into the crystalline cold begging you in wisps
to just come back inside. The ignition will grumble
and you will slip away, I'll bury myself in hope.

I'll waste time on wishing, when I know I mean nothing.
It's comforting to pretend that I matter even a sliver
in the sparkle of your eyes. I'll allow the moisture
to collect and cascade, hoping that you'll come back
and gather me in your arms again, I'll be okay again.

I read this and my heart stopped beating a few times. This is wonderful!

I like the emotion I've captured from reading this, it is relatable and something I am sure most people dream of; for the person to stay just a little while more.
