We Are

We Are

A Poem by Alexx

The rays of morning sun lay upon her face
Honeydew had entered our noses.
On this field we lay from night, 'till dawn's break
Love being anything but corrosive.

There are no iron bars here, material or not
Our eyes still blurred from waking
Having this freedom of never being caught,
In the net of rule breaking,
Was liberating.

Free to laugh and sing and run, but not run away.
What were we to run from now?
We loved and held each other and played.
Whose god were we asking to now?

This field is our own, our temple of humanity,
Although it's flat with green grass.
No money, no religion, no fear of blasphemy,
We are our own gods, and it
Was liberating.

I like the feel and flow of this poem. Just a couple things: 1st Stanza - "dawns break" should be "dawn's break" (missing apostrophe), and in last stanza, did you mean to have a line break after "blasphemy"? Nice word choices throughout - lovely work work here, Alex.

Thanks for that! I totally missed those mistakes. I was in a bit of a rush
Wow, and a sigh, How beautiful. I was just writing about a memory, and your poem, blew my far away. When people have written to me, you are a poet, I want to say now and in the last week, No you are and you are!! Mine is different and incomplete, but will never be this good. Thank you so much. I love it.
