Silhouette

Silhouette

A Poem by Alishaan Asaria

Beyond calm waters, stillness beheld,
And willow trees, though their strength betrayed,
He knelt. Hands in prayer, fingers entwined.
A silhouette. Sobbing soundlessly, in darkness and despair.

His limbs are thin, his face oblong.
Tattered and worn, shattered, torn.
Tears drop. Feet shiver.
Like pieces that are from different puzzles, recollection. Pain is born.

His beauty laughs. Of a yesterday.
It dances. Each angle, each expression.
It sings. A song of love.
A romance that stings.

But when he opens his eyes, his sorrowful eyes.
Opens them wide and gazes far.
Into paranoia, cynicism, a craze;
He opens the truth of all those haggard lies.

But, the everlasting recoil, his imploring mind.
Questions unanswered.
Angry bullets piercing through a gentle wind.
They put his love to sleep within a matter of seconds.
