Blackmailed Plea

Blackmailed Plea

A Poem by Alja
"

Oil spills are devastating to our wildlife.

"

Seagulls lamented their grief.

Surpassing scavengers,

Giving pity, to chaos underneath

How entity, delicate lace, bellows

With the rhythmic gash and gather,

of a hostile, crippled needle.

Terrorized crawlers, scurry

hauling the metallic coat,

blistering their sanguine shells.

The charcoal remains, bubbles

On their frame, facilely,

Blackmailing them to retreat,

A tender hand, meets railing

Gawking the malice beauty

of delicate feathers, painted.

Beaks squawk and peck at the grease,

their refusal to bargain for survival.

flailing the caliginous waters.

By nightfall, a stillness of black

upon miles of sea, will laminate a veil

woven with a crooked needle.

Mankind seems to always find a way to destroy, abuse, or alter the beauty of nature with their inventions, selfishness, and pride. The imagery in this poem is powerful and you successfully present the creatures' difficulties with oil spills and, up to an extent, their hopelessness (or perhaps just mine). Thank you for writing this!
