Tears of Remorse Storyboard

Tears of Remorse Storyboard

A Poem by Debbie Lyn Jones
"

" A 9-year-old Alabama girl is dead after her grandmother and stepmother … Police say the girl was ordered to run for 3 hours as punishment for lying to her. "

"
This one I am working to illustrate and animate. Here is the verse: http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/AllMyTears/1057943/

How I came to write Tears of Remorse: I was very moved by the story of this young girl’s death. I selected a name, and oddly found a composition that matched. I only listened to the first few stanzas when I knew it was a perfect fit.

I opened my laptop and notepad, dimmed the lights " turned on the music, closed my eyes and typed. One word was changed.

 Technical
  1. Dimensions:  YouTube Size ( need to find this out)
  2. Font: Not sure, something medium weight, a bit of a softness to it
  3. Colors: Bold and vivid Golds, reds, hint of green (softer/fern) and rusts (create a color palette)
  4. Player:  Start/Stop/pause/vol control - no scrubber
 Resources Needed
  1. Reference Photos > Background
  • Maple Tree
    • Maple tree leaves in various sizes/shades
    • Leaves fluttering down / around
    • Leaves on the ground
  • Sunshine from right to left
  • Plant life you would find around maple trees > in the Fall > consider light source
  • Rocks and other inanimate objects found around maple trees
  • Birds, insects, found around maple trees > in the Fall > consider light source
2.  Reference Photos/Animation > Main Character
  • Child age 10's shape and size
  • Child around age 10 dancing ballet
  • Red hair - fuzzy - long
  • Leaves that would replace the hair, consider shape, size, movement
  • Leaves that would replace the skirt, shoes - consider the shape, size, movement
 Visual Settings
  1. The background:
    • The background is to appear as a stage, framing the center for our dancer
    • The lower two inches will be opaque white, where the text will gently fade in and out
  2. The overall feeling:
    • The feeling is of warmth - using bold fall golds, rusts, to emulate the girls original lovely red hair
    • Soft fern greens and delicate opaque rusts will soften these bold colors
    • When the music picks up, I want the wind to swirl
    • Serene, reflective, soft and warm
  3. Animations > background
    • The sun will shine through the leaves from top right to left at an angle
    • The wind will cause the suns brightness to change as well as affect the leaves glint (meaning the leaves colors will brighten or dim)
    • The wind will gently blow, but as the song picks up, it will blow harder - affecting the movements of the leaves
  4. Animation > The Girl
    • The girl will not be solid in the same respects we think of a person being
    • She will be made of the dancing leaves, that blow together to loosely - very loosely, create her form
    • No face, only a very gentle shape - hinting - at it being a young girl
    • Her hair will be of smaller leaves a slightly different hue and move as hair does
    • Important to ensure each leave does not bind/flatten, that each still has life of it's own but is held by the breeze as she dances
  5. Missing Elements to Consider:
    • I need something for her hair to be swept in by the wind, and use the sun to highlight it. Something white, soft, to help hold the shape. I something like dandelion seeds
    • I need gentle movement other then the leaves - i.e. small animals, birds, flowers - but meant to compliment, not to distract. > Consider time of year, location, light source
    • Need to consider the shadows and path of the light source, how it will play upon everything
    • I need these elements to focus and keep the eye on the dancer
