The Center of OUR universe

The Center of OUR universe

A Poem by AllauraRose
"

Just on my mind.

"
The Universe, what is at our center?
We believe the world revolves around us
How can we not when that is all we see
You don't see life through your friend's eyes, but yours

We believe we live for us and that is all that counts
We do our best for ourselves, but forget
Our friends are the center of their own universe
We affect them and their life in numerous ways without knowing

Our teachers go home to their family, or to an empty oasis
They feel emotions, same as us, but we see them only as instructors
We don't think of the lives we may have affected, or the ones they have
In an "I" society of wanna be everybodys, how can we be taken?

We ignore the small heroes of today
Or the big time leaders of tomorrow
The story of a lifetime or a lifetime of stories
We miss because we stay isolated, and just keep to oneself

Social Networking makes fake friends with voluminous followers
Ones who only know how to like and comment
But we miss the point of getting to know them and who they are
Their dreams and aspirations, what they wish to achieve

We miss stories of every day good samaritan
We instead tune into the latest crimes and devastation
We care more about the pain that is caused
More than the pain that has been relieved

I am at the center of my universe and you are at the center of yours
Which is why we need to learn all we can about one another
To hear stories and learn from the wise
But until then most unknown heroes slowly die
