Know That I Too
We are never alone (a poem for mental health month)
lonely thought

lonely thought

A Poem by Allen Smuckler
"

on a roll...

"

I’m alone; I’m alone

in my

thoughts

prayers and dreams;

possible schemes

in my

heart

I’m alone

as I walk

aimlessly

;

so alone

passing through

halls of concrete minds

and fertile fields

singing the song

from my heart

plodding and

trodding

in 4/4 beat

as I

carry the weight

of the world,

singing my song,

I’m alone, I’m alone

I’m not lonely

but boy, so alone

a fine poem, like the punctuation, the use of first of semi colons then the use of a comma. I think that punctuation can make or break a poem, and it got it exactly right, breaking up the long phrases in a way only a good poet can do

I think I'd like the words below, but that's just me. Best words: possible schemes. I think it's interesting you said alone but not lonely. I think lonely but not alone. Good job.

Yeah, that feeling really sucks, specially desire for brotherhood, company.

Being alone is the worse feeling. As humans we usually desire another's company. This made me think quite a bit actually because it touched me deeply.

I hear a beat to this... can almost dance to your words... and I can really relate in a lot of ways right now... the weight of everything can def. make us feel like we are a one person army just trying to survive... your words flow perfect in this write. GREAT JOB!!!

it's relatable to feel alone with the world on our shoulders. sometimes we play a different role for everybody in our lives. we can't express ourselves because we serve a purpose in everyone else's life, it never ends. that is when you feel the most alone when you're there for others every breathing moment playing a role. you start to forget yourself. your poem expresses the feelings that one may have but can't articulate it. (sorry for the vent)

Sometimes the weight of the world gets so heavy that we forget that there are others to help us carry it, and it feels as though we are so alone, this poem expresses this feeling in such clarity that my shoulders feel heavy too. excellent work :) yes, keep pic and words together!

keep the words where they are...and a lonely verse...i often wonder when in a crowd situation, i'll sit back and imagine what sort of weight each person carries...what makes them tick...etc...nice observation

Good photo and very good words. I like the statue and the description. I believe I seen similar statues in my hometown. Thank you for the outstanding poem.
