Silent Movie

Silent Movie

A Poem by Allerton

Silent Movie

The heart that hurts, it carries with it,
the weight of troubles, past and present.
Never buries, never sleeps,
constant struggle, gentle weeps.
The sound of rain upon the glass,
the broken panes of memories fast
still flickering on the movie screen
I feel your feelings crackling.
The girl up top she runs the projector,
in images, movies she finds her shelter.
Her fingerprints, black dots, the audience sees,
a flicker, a spot, a gentle breeze
that echoes through a silent movie
the lack of noise, broken reverie.
So wake me from this cold nightmare,
find me now beneath the stairs,
outside the theatre, behind the movie.
I run to the projector.

I want to catch her.

And so I find the girl who runs the screen,
and feel her feelings crackling,
with every single film she's running,
the silent aspect, the light so stunning.
So sit with me beneath the glass,
the movie’s flickering so fast,
and turn your eyes from pale screen,
feel the soft, slow crackling
with every single brand new frame,
The promise, the flicker, a windowpane.

 Scene.

And at this time she says to me,
gently softly dreams you see,
“I love you and you love me,
so let's leave this silent movie, slip into soft reverie
and run from the projectors shadow.”
The rising silence. Hearts crescendo.
We turned away from movie screen,
silhouetted by the camera sheen.
We found ourselves in a brand new movie
with no audience and no projector girl,
but sound, and light as the stars do twirl.
The movie's but a memory,
and she is but a distant dream,
so lose yourself in distant movies,
run between the silent scenes.
Let music make, and soundtrack take
you to a world beyond just grainy static
not just a place of pale dramatic..

For me and you and you and me
silently starring in our quiet movie.
