Perfection in Imperfection

Perfection in Imperfection

A Story by Alpha Moon

Why does an imperfect society stress such a standard of perfection and normality
Are we not supposed to embrace individuality and deny conformity
What's the point of growing up and maturing if all you are meant to be subject to is group think.
You have to wonder what is more difficult, being the yes-man or the dissenter
As a yes-man you are accepted by a majority, not for individualism but for the feeble one track mind that feeds the satisfaction of the millions of enslaved conformists
This leads to a loss of self worth and respect that furthers your dissent into the limited space you have provided yourself; your prison for eternity
If you choose the dissenter; however, you transcend the boundaries of this finite world and begin a new and interminable path through time, space, and thought
It is true that you are excluded and excommunicated but that only leaves unbounded places ready for an individual cunning enough to unlock the secrets of oneself
Death is certain to find and exploit you if you should be the dissenter because society will scold you and try to reshape you in their own image and if that is not possible oblivion is their verdict for you
But a dissenter is a boundless soul and will be externalized and praised forever
