Sick Angry Mice

Sick Angry Mice

A Story by Ian Barnhill
"

Mice inflicted with a deadly disease decide to rise against a cat had been hunting them, and they all die off in the process except the introverts.

"

The mice were struck with a deadly sickness, so they couldn’t get out of their own holes. The healthy

mice, especially the introverted ones would stay safely in their homes. Reading their books, and

other homebody hobbies only going out to out to steal food.

Now it just so happened that a mouse got out of his hole to steal some corn grain from the farm

storage when the farmer’s cat caught him, and gobbled him up. Word of that incident spread across the

Mice community. Many started to think they couldn’t keep themselves hidden in their holes.

We will not let this go on any longer,”cried the mice Elders,“we will show this cat we mean

business, illness or not.” The next day the mice gathered from out of there holes shouting,

Down with the cat, Down with the cat.”

When the cat saw what all the commotion was about, she immediately pounced upon the mice.

Sending them scattering across the farm as the cat caught few mice for her breakfast.

The enraged mice still prevailed, as they started getting into the storage shed. Leaving their droppings

across the farm. Even a few of the braver mice would bite the poor cat’s tail while she was having

a nap.

Within a few days, some of mice started to drop dead but the demonstrations still continued.

Within a few days all the angry mice died from the measles. Letting their anger get the better of them.

The only surviving mice were those that stayed safely in their holes.

Hurray for the introverts! (I'm one) I'm not sure if there's moral to this tale, but I enjoyed reading it. Both anger and fear have their purposes.
