A Lullabye

A Lullabye

Love for my son. :)

A Lullabye

Tonight, Love

While you are sound asleep

Safe and away so far

In that place where your breath is steady

In that place where your eyelashes dance

In their own iridescence with

The lights you're chasing

And the threads you spin

I will watch you

As I did the night before

My baby

And as I did the night before that

And I will wonder

How in this world

In this whole wide world

You have chosen to meet me here

All wrapped up

In your tender skin

Complete

You brought

Your smiles

And toes

And fingers

To grow

And you've been as patient as a little

Soul can be

While he sleeps

As patient as you can

So that I may stand here

Wading in the soft amber

That you glow so sweet

So that I may feel the smell of you

Tickle my pores

So warm

Its ribbons lift me into you

And upon your sighs as you dream

As if it knows

That I would have always lingered here

Just to be certain

That you are real
