Woodpecker

Woodpecker

A Poem by Amber Roze

Hollow echo drills
hardened exterior
each bitter word
cuts deeper

Like a woodpecker
on it's branched perch
drills tiny punctures
exposed bits of core

This massive form
withstands the deadliest storms
while a little woodpecker
constantly pokes and jabs
chiseling away
the strength of your shell

If you let these  be
eventually
it will kill
mightiest of trees

I have thick skin. I don’t let a lot bother me but people who constantly needle you, are hard to be around and cause us to snap! Nice write!
