TimeA Story by Amber StarA short reflection about how time escapes us so quickly and we don't realize until it's too late that we can never get it back.Time
Humans waste too much time. Our lives flash by us and we b***h because it's one of those things you absolutely can never get back once it's gone. It's an hourglass. Every tiny piece of sand that falls through that narrow passage is gone. Nobody gets to tip their hourglass over when it runs out.
Tme is also relative. Or I guess I should say--the importance of time...how we use it. Some people just work too f*****g much. Every day they wake up and go to work, come home and go to sleep--it's the same thing every day. Every week goes by as another week checked off their life. One less week they can choose to enjoy.
Some people just don't do anything at all and they can't say they accomplished a damn thing at the end of the week. Others balance work and play but still live on autopilot, without ever noticing what impact each moment has had on themselves, their families, and friends. For that matter, most don't think about the impact they have on complete strangers. We just live, letting the hourglass fill the bottom with what used to be on top. Every week goes by and we pay our bills and show up to meetings, but every 365 days we celebrate a new year and say, "Where did the year go?"
It's funny how much slower time went by when we were kids. To children, an hour car trip feels like an all day endeavor and waiting a year for your birthday seems like eons. The older we get, the more we take time for granted. Life passes by and we beg for the years back. Men want their hair back, women want their flawless skin nd smaller figures, and they all say, "Man, I wish I was in my 20's again."
But no matter how much a person pleads, time can never be given back. Each grain of sand continues to drop through it's one-way tube and every second we spend dwelling on it is just another second lost.
How does a person achieve peace of mind that their time is appreciated, not wasted? How can a day be made up after they've lost it forever? Is it possible to create an illusion of more time?
