Theme for English 10

The first of several poems I wrote when I was in the 10th grade.

I'm supposed to write a poem.

Free verse.

I suppose it should be sort of... describing me.

Not physically, of course.

Why would the teacher want that? He can see me. So,

I guess I should start with the basics.

Perry, fourteen years of living; your average tenth-grade geek.

I love music more than 

anything

ever.

Music is my whole life.

I like to write and sleep and eat

particularly bacon and ham.

I'm handy with computers

and I spend too much time watching television.

(My favorite show is-and will always be- Buffy.) Yeah,

I told you I'm a geek.

I am also too emotional.

I get way passionate about anything

from videogames

to

friends

    to

little brothers.

I'm not afraid of spiders or snakes

but puppets

(yeah, puppets of all things)

freak me out.

I don't care about gossip

but somehow I always seem to

know about it anyway.

I'm different.

I'm strange.

I'm me.

Deal with it.

Wow, that's a lot lamer than I remember it being. Go easy on me; this was over three years ago that I wrote this. I like to think I've improved.
